Atlanta Airport Car Service: The Complete Guide to Hartsfield-Jackson Pickups

Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International is the busiest airport in the world by passenger numbers. That scale is exactly why the last mile — getting from your gate to your car — is where most trips go wrong. This guide covers how a proper airport car service works at ATL, and what to check before you book one.

Domestic vs International: two different terminals

ATL has two passenger terminals at opposite ends of the airfield, and they are not walkable from one another. Getting this wrong is the single most common cause of a missed pickup.

  • Domestic Terminal (North and South) — serves almost all domestic arrivals. Accessed from I-85 and Camp Creek Parkway.
  • Maynard H. Jackson Jr. International Terminal (Concourse F) — serves most international arrivals, on the opposite side of the airport off I-75.

If you land internationally but clear customs and take the Plane Train to baggage claim in the Domestic Terminal, your pickup point changes. Tell your operator which terminal you will actually exit from, not just which airline you flew.

How flight tracking should work

When you give your airline and flight number at the time of booking, a professional operator monitors that flight and shifts your pickup automatically. You should not have to call anyone when your inbound is delayed.

This is why our booking form asks for your flight details as soon as it detects an airport in the pickup field — airline, flight number, arrival date and scheduled arrival time. Those four things are all a dispatcher needs to follow your aircraft.

If a service asks only for your pickup time and not your flight number, they are not tracking your flight. They are guessing.

What happens if you land early?

Reputable operators reassign the chauffeur to your actual landing time rather than the time you originally entered. Ask about this explicitly — some services will hold you to the booked slot and charge waiting time for their own scheduling gap.

Meet and greet vs curbside pickup

There are two standard formats, and they suit different trips.

FormatWhere you meetBest for
CurbsideArrivals roadway outside baggage claimFrequent flyers, carry-on only, tight schedules
Meet and greetInside, at baggage claim with a name signFirst-time visitors, international arrivals, clients you are hosting, families

Meet and greet usually carries a parking surcharge because the chauffeur leaves the vehicle. It is almost always worth it when you are collecting someone else — a client standing alone at ATL baggage claim is a bad first impression.

Waiting time and grace periods

Ask two questions before booking:

  1. How much free waiting time is included on an airport arrival? An hour from touchdown is a common standard, because customs and baggage are unpredictable.
  2. When does the clock start? Scheduled arrival, actual landing, or the time you booked? Only "actual landing" is fair to the passenger.

Luggage: the question people forget

Passenger capacity and luggage capacity are not the same number. A sedan that seats three adults comfortably will not take three large checked bags plus carry-ons. If you are travelling with golf clubs, ski bags, instruments or a pram, say so when you book so the right vehicle is assigned.

You can compare capacities on our fleet page before you book.

What to have ready when you book

  • Airline and flight number
  • Arrival date and scheduled arrival time
  • Which terminal you will exit from
  • Number of passengers and number of bags
  • A mobile number your chauffeur can text on arrival
  • Your destination address, including suite or unit number

Booking ahead vs on the day

Same-day airport runs are usually possible, but vehicle choice narrows quickly — especially for larger groups and during convention weeks at the Georgia World Congress Center. For a specific vehicle type, 24 hours notice is a sensible minimum.

How ETL Limo handles ATL pickups

ETL Limo (Executive Transport Inc.) has run Hartsfield-Jackson transfers out of Atlanta for over 20 years. When you enter an airport in the pickup field, our booking form asks for your airline, flight number and arrival time straight away, and dispatch tracks that flight from wheels-up. If you land early or late your chauffeur is moved with you, at no extra charge.

Airport transfers up to 30 miles are a flat fare, so an ATL pickup to Buckhead, Midtown or Sandy Springs costs the same whichever route the traffic dictates. Check your price and book, or call 770-434-4222 and talk to a dispatcher.
